Strategic Intelligence Program Manager (US)

L Marks is supporting global businesses with the ”Why, How, and What” of innovation – designing their Innovation Strategy, building their Innovation System, and creating the pipeline of domains and innovation opportunities that will drive long-term growth.

We’re a fast-growing company, working with some of the world’s biggest companies to support their innovation efforts. We’re on the hunt for a Program Manager to join the team and help lead the delivery of one of our Strategic Intelligence Opportunity Discovery programs.

Opportunity Discovery is a program where L Marks supports their corporate clients to discover innovative new strategic opportunities. Initially exploring identifying opportunity-rich areas of strategic interest in which to explore (product segments, technologies, customer needs, customer segments, geographies, etc.) and then identifying a set of specific innovation opportunities, each of which includes an initial concept of the offering, the unmet need it addresses, enabling technologies and supporting business models, finally validating those against viability criteria.

The Innovation Program Manager sits across all parts of the program. They are the key point of contact for the client team and will build and manage that relationship at a day-to-day level, as well as managing the logistics of the program, coordinating  all the program resources, schedules, milestones and deliverables. They will be responsible for the facilitation of all program meetings, work sessions, workshops and group activities. The Program Manager will also be deeply involved in the development of the domains and opportunities. This includes supporting the Innovation Analyst(s) with research, data gathering, community building and developing insights, as well as leading the development of proposition slides of increasing depth and detail that articulate the opportunities alongside the supporting and qualifying data and communicating all this in a coherent and compelling story.

Core responsibilities for the Innovation Program Manager position include:

  • Facilitating the general running of the program in an efficient and effective manner
    • Preparation & delivery of kick-off meetings and subsequent key stage meetings
    • Participate in client meetings & capturing meeting discussion outcomes and highlights
    • Develop and manage the project plan and make adjustments as required
    • Scheduling and administration of client meetings
    • Producing client training materials and help run those sessions
  • Being a trusted partner to our corporate clients and developing and managing relationships with key stakeholders
  • Lead the development of key client deliverables, including the designing & presenting the opportunity/proposition slides and presentation of key midterm and final project reports
  • Conducting community engagement, in the form of face to face or virtual interviews, recording and synthesizing content and generating insights
  • Together with the Innovation Analyst, explore and research a domain for new opportunities by finding and accessing data and information sources relevant to new domains and the opportunities within them.
  • Supporting the Innovation Analyst(s) to analyze different data sets and information to reveal relevant insights and present them in a manner that is effective and tells a story
  • Maintain a view of the relevant broad technology landscape, tracking trends.
  • Presenting these back to the internal program team and client team

You should have:

  • At least 2 years of project management or other relevant experience;
  • Experience or a background in STEM is preferred but not required;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of an organization;
  • Understanding and experience of corporate innovation, technology, and the opportunity of startup collaboration is preferred;
  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to work efficiently to tight timelines while paying strict attention to detail;
  • Excellent diplomacy, negotiation and client relationship management;
  • Fantastic people skills and strong emotional intelligence;
  • An understanding and experience of corporate innovation & technology is preferred.
